Hello all

Thanks everyone who worked GB5CC in BERU this year. I had a bit more preparation to do than normal this year – repairing my 40m Force12 2ele yagi (which is only at 50′ so has about 1dB of directivity, but on receive is very good = low noise), deploying an unterminated Beverage running NW <> SE, and finally fitting a new longer stub mast to my small tower for 10m which allowed the 10m yagi to rotate without getting stuck in a tree. This tree’s future is bleak. 

Overall I thought conditions were quite good, but like others the activity, particularly from Africa, seems less each year.  I too was looking for 9J2BO’s distinctive keying but nowt heard. GB5CC CQing attracts mults of course – I operated for about 19.5 hrs out of the 24. One highlight was working Phil ZL3P (ZL3PAH) from Upper Moutere on 10m long path – the sunspot cycle really is improving propagation.

Ignore the ‘final score’ shown above – WinTest does not have a clue how to score BERU, esp. for an HQ station.
