John, Bob,

Please find below this year’s entrants for Team World Travellers Plus.

I have only found four genuine travellers ‘not operating in regions with their own team’, so this year we are also joined by Marios 5B4WN.

I gather from adjudicator John that we will do quite well as not many teams have registered yet….

See you down the log

Hi

As part of an exercise to capture thoughts and impressions of some of the earliest entrants to the Commonwealth Contest I would like to find out when some of the current entrants first entered.

Whilst I can’t do a full update of ‘Reflections …’ it would be good to capture thoughts before they get lost in the mists of time. The contest because of its unusual longevity represents a framework to put amateur radio contesting into context.

Suggestions please to me bob(at)g3pjt.com

Hi Bob,

Will be active from 6Y beachside again, this time with a Dx-Commander instead of my usual 1979 + tape measure radials and inverted-L.

Saves me having to nip outside to adjust the antenna every QSY. Will be interesting to see any difference.

First 2 hours I will be on the low bands looking for VK/ZL, last year was a bit disappointing in that regard for some reason..

After the contest I’m sticking up a top band inverted-L and 2 x elevated radials for some extra fun, taking my 18M pole.

Hi All

My photo database is beginning to look a bit dated.

So please take some pictures of your trips or interesting operations.

Please use the highest resolution you can and make sure that the focus and light levels are good.

Send pics to me please, bob (at) g3pjt(dot) com.

(If you send them with your entry they may get mangled and unsuitable for webpages or RadCom)

73 and good luck

Hello UK HF Contesters

Commonwealth Contest  8th-9th March 2025    see  https://www.rsgbcc.org/hf/rules/2025/rcwc.shtml

I am pleased to be activating the Bonus station GB5CC again this year.

From here on the East Coast of Scotland, 25 miles N. of Inverness, it is (usually but not always) easy for me to work the whole of the UK on all 5 bands.

GB5CC will be calling ‘CQ CC’ – trying my absolute best not to send ‘CQ Bxxx’    🙂

There will be many other Bonus stations for you to work.   Hope to work you in 2 weeks time…..

Peter:

I think ZL/G4BUO will count as a ZLØ.  That should be a unique call area.  We all earn a bonus for every QSO with Dave.

I’ll be on as VA3RAC, an HQ station.

Blimey – sounds like BERU (sorry, I mean CC of course) meets IOTA….

I expect to be on from my usual site near Brighstone on the Isle of Wight….. Nothing exciting – K3 to a 14AVQ trap vertical and hopefully something a bit taller for 80m (hope springs eternal).

Good to see a promising turnout of real travellers – thanks to you guys…

More long-distance travel news : G3TXF will be operating as VP8TXF in BERU 2025.

Ian G3WVG (VP8CIW) and Nigel G3TXF (VP8TXF) are soon travelling to the Falklands for a short CW-only DX-Trip which will specifically include BERU-2025. More details later.
