Conditions in the lead up to the weekend were not too bad, but with an elevated A index forecast it seems as though we had the best of the conditions (in VK6) during the first 12 hours. 10m was open to EU before the start but closed soon after. 15m was good at the start to G, as was 20m for a short while and then it opened later with some signals from VE virtually all night via SP and then LP.
40m opened early to G with GB5CC at 15.04z with others coming through nicely as the band really opened up towards UK sunset.. 80m also was quite early at 17.27z again with GB5CC and some excellent signals for this opening. At the halfway point I had about 370 Q’s, but the second half was pretty quiet. The lack of travellers made a difference, this was partly made up by the increased number of HQ stations.
The antenna farm is growing here, Spiderbeam for HF at 75ft. On 40m I have a 3 ele reversible wire beam on EU and a 2 ele reversible wire beam for USA on a second tower at about 75ft. On 80m I have a 2 ele inv L antenna which can be switched to EU, reversed or used as omnidirectional.
Also I have been working on the RX antennas, one beverage for USA LP/SP and another beverage for EU, both about 500 ft long. A 10m EDZ as a sloper and a 15m EDZ also sloping. (these work well for RX on other bands too).  2 ele 20m wire beam at 40 ft for EU and a 2 ele 15m wire beam at 30 ft also for EU.
The RX antennas have enabled me to setup a good SO2R station with 2 IC7610’s and a single Expert amplifier with homebrew SO2R switch box. With these RX antennas and some RX band pass filters I can operate across all the bands with virtually no inter station interference. It helps that the RX antennas are at least 350 ft from the TX towers. This makes quite a difference in BERU as I can run and keep an ear on the other bands with S & P, or if conditions permit also run on 2 bands with interleaved QSO’s.
N1MM + is used for logging but seems to have a glitch with BERU, last year the scoring was out slightly, claimed is actually 6000 points based on Q’s and Bonus but N1MM shows 6055.
80: 81/3540: 221/5520: 109/6015: 78/2410: 3/3
Thanks for all the QSO’s. Looking forward to some better HF condx next year
