I must stress this data is pretty noisy as the definition of sections has changed quite a bit over the life of this dataset and I have sometimes been a bit arbitrary in allocation.

Interesting charts Bob even though very preliminary. I recall some (many?) years ago there was concern about the future of BERU and how to revitalize it. One suggestion was an SSB category which obviously was not taken up, another was the introduction of teams. If this was around 2005 it may account for the significant increase in participants starting in 2006.
