Hi Everyone,
I have just received a message from Ian (G3WVG) who reports that he and Nigel (OE5TXF) have safely arrived in the Falkland Islands following two long flights via Ascension Island (ZD8). Ian reports that they will be active as Ian – VP8CIW and Nigel as VP8TXF and will be QRV later today. They say that their site is very remote and sloping north to the ocean. They report that they have no internet or e-mail connection at all, so please work them when you hear them. Good luck everyone.

Hi Bob,
Will be active from 6Y beachside again, this time with a Dx-Commander instead of my usual 1979 + tape measure radials and inverted-L.
Saves me having to nip outside to adjust the antenna every QSY. Will be interesting to see any difference.
First 2 hours I will be on the low bands looking for VK/ZL, last year was a bit disappointing in that regard for some reason..
After the contest I’m sticking up a top band inverted-L and 2 x elevated radials for some extra fun, taking my 18M pole.

Hi All
My photo database is beginning to look a bit dated.
So please take some pictures of your trips or interesting operations.
Please use the highest resolution you can and make sure that the focus and light levels are good.
Send pics to me please, bob (at) g3pjt(dot) com.
(If you send them with your entry they may get mangled and unsuitable for webpages or RadCom)
73 and good luck

Peter:
I think ZL/G4BUO will count as a ZLØ. That should be a unique call area. We all earn a bonus for every QSO with Dave.
I’ll be on as VA3RAC, an HQ station.

More long-distance travel news : G3TXF will be operating as VP8TXF in BERU 2025.
Ian G3WVG (VP8CIW) and Nigel G3TXF (VP8TXF) are soon travelling to the Falklands for a short CW-only DX-Trip which will specifically include BERU-2025. More details later.

More travel news. Weather permitting, Nubsey G0VDZ/G0W will be travelling to the Isle of Sheppey. Here he will set up in a caravan about 300 yards from the sea. His main aerial will be a 58ft long wire, set up as an inverted L. This will use two 10 metre fishing poles. He will also use the Super antennas YP3 beam for 10 and 15 metres, at about 13 feet above ground level. Hoping that these bands are wide open.
He will be running his usual 5 watts qrp station.

Team World Travellers Plus is again recruiting. Ideally you are travelling from cosy civilisation to a far flung place especially for the contest and so also stand a chance to amass material for tales of derring do achieving the whole endeavour including returning to tell the tale.
As the contest gets closer our team entry definitions tend to become more lenient, towards just ‘stations in far flung places’, often in the Caribbean region. But, hey ho, let’s see…
To apply please ping me off list at colin at crsmithers dot com. No experience required and references will not be followed up.
