Hi Bob

Not finalised yet but expecting to be on from the Gambia this year. PURA (licensing agency) have agreed my requested callsign C56DF but have yet to actually issue the licence. However, they assure me it will happen in good time …

Hello Bob,

Thanks for the BERU update.

Good timing. Only yesterday I heard that my 3B8XF licence has been renewed
for our trip to Mauritius in March.
This’ll be our third trip to 3B8 for BERU.

2019 Latitude Factor = 1.68

As a result of relatively (!) improved propagation south of the equator compared to the north and some other factors, including section choices made by some entrants, the latitude factor has reverted from an all-time high in 2018 to 1.68 for 2019. Prospective team captains and members should take note!

(I am attaching the spread-sheet used for this calculation, from which the movements since 2007 can be seen. you can request from me)

Hi all , I have decided to follow in Peter G3LET’s footsteps and head to the PEI super station lodge at VY2TT. Makes a change from 9M6!  It will, hopefully,  be combined with a holiday train trip with the xyl from Montreal to New Brunswick. Thanks to Peter G3LET  and Dave VE9CB for all the advice and  encouragement so far! I hope the weather holds ! All is now booked except the cross country dog sleds. Learning  to use such a super station will be quite a challenge. We  hope to be there Wednesday before BERU so look out  for VY/G3VYI on CW of  course on LF  bands on the evenings preceding the kickoff. Good luck to all, especially  the BERU  travelers.

And I expect to be on as ZF2CA again, if it’s not on the website already?

C6AKT BERU 2019

For BERU 2019…

A35 Tonga was looking like where I wanted to pitch up … nice but serious ouch on cost, like really ouch, so whilst still available decided to go back to where was last year (including place on stilts right next to sea and about an acre for antennas). Traveling BA via Miami (will overnight) and then fly on to Eleuthra so lots of luggage allowance too. Not in the little plane this time. On way back stop over in Miami for 8hrs.

Should be QRV C6AKT 8th to 14th March.

I’ll be in Team Caribbean.

VP9I – 2019

I was all set to return to Gozo for the 4th time in 2019 when I heard that my stalwart host Colin, 9H4CT was expecting to lose the use of the neighbouring field, which worked well for me last year.  Bob PJT had told me about the new direct Gatwick flight to Bermuda at the recent Convention, so a quick call to Ed VP9GE indicated that his station was free for BERU 2019.  Bonus will be a week’s holiday to a new venue for Gerry, my long-suffering XYL!

This will be another all-band Restricted section entry, using my trusty K3 and P3 and (mostly) Ed’s existing single element antennas.  The local Club call VP9I is expected to be available, if not look out for G3LET/VP9.  Either way, I’ll be happy to join a Caribbean team.

Hello  Contesters,

Here are some photos from the 3B8XF BERU entry….

http://www.g3txf.com/dxtrip/3B8XF/3B8-Mar-18.html

As can be seen from the BERU Score summary….

http://www.g3txf.com/dxtrip/3B8XF/BERU-DX-ped-scores.htm

…. this year was an all-time low (521) in QSO numbers and in score.

[The nice 80m vertical shown in these photos was unfortunately not being used during BERU].
