RSGB Commonwealth Century Award

Bob, many thanks for the info. I have included a brief mention in my Awards Manager’s report which hopefully will appear in the next issue of Radcom. I was wondering in return if you would promote the revised RSGB Commonwealth Century Award? http://rsgb.org/main/operating/amateur-radio-awards/rsgb-hf-awards/

We are now accepting LoTW conformations which makes applying for the Award simpler and quicker. as well as being retrospective.

There are two ways to approach it for the Commonwealth Contest, firstly and probably the best, to complete the spreadsheet before the contest with LoTW or QSL card confirmations, then hunt out any missing ones during BERU, this would give added incentive to participate, or fill in the spreadsheet after the contest and then look through QSL cards and LoTW for other confirmations.

I will be on during the contest!

Hi Bob

I discovered that Malta doesn’t allow CEPT format calls, however just when panic was setting in MCA has again excelled and released 9H3ET in good time! Now working on an antenna setup that can squeeze into Colin 9H4CT’s plot. Not expecting too much due to the proliferation of solar installations in all the inhabited areas – still hopefully there will be at least some G QSO’s.

Hi Bob,

A note to let you know that I’ll be again operating as a Radio Amateurs of Canada HQ station using the call VE7RAC. Please post on the site.

Tnx, 73

Hi Bob,

You could mention that there is a real score board supporting that beautiful contest: https://contestonlinescore.com/scoreboard/?contest_id=192
We have a Team competition page so that’s exactly what  BERU Team competition needs!
Using online score board usually makes any contest to be much more attractive and thrilling for all the participants.

C6 homebrew trip

Just to make it just a little more interesting…

The C6 trip will be 100% using homebrew kit only the laptop will have been bought.

Even the PSU is homebrew 🙂

2el on 80m, Supports are two 12m poles from Spiderbeam, with top capacity hats. Directed endfire towards UK/EU. Wires all new.
4-square on 40m, Four 10m traveling poles from SOTABeams will support the radiators, radials all new wires from CPC. Using a TK5EP based hybrid controller, same as used elsewhere, this time M1GEO made me up a QRP PCB and much lighter so will be trying that instead of the S2JW version.
VDA on 20m, 12m pole, Tesco chopping board and parts from two 4m poles. See  http://www.f4bkv.net/index.phpfor details how to build one. TX6G David Aslin G3WGN also has excellent designs. There is a 1/2 wavelength version out there too… http://www.dxing.eu/vda.html
GP’s 15m and 10m (Not expecting much if anything on 15m and 10m)

Feed is NEW Aircell-5 with 75ohm webpro 100 between the phased antennas.

Taking coax stubs for 40m and 20m (G4BWP discussions and corrections) made from coax I picked up from SM7UCZ a while back
W3NGN based BPF (but qrp versions) between the TRX and antenna

I’ll use an SO2R arduino controller not really for running SO2R but to switch between the antennas.

Rigs will be ATS-3B and K2 both I built.
SDR RX as well. Softrock “Lite + USB Xtall” V9.0 Si570

I expect will have WSPR and/or CW beacon QCX on 30m from G0UPL https://qrp-labs.com/qcx.html

(I have KX3 which I ‘built’ but they don’t really fall into the hombrew category.)
